EMP Project Releases Best of EMP Project — A Remastered Collection of Modern Jazz Trio Recordings5/3/2026  Blue Canoe Records proudly announces the release of Best of EMP Project, a newly remastered compilation album from the Southern-based jazz trio EMP Project, available worldwide on May 1, 2026.
Bringing together a powerful blend of modern jazz, fusion, groove, and improvisational interplay, Best of EMP Project revisits standout recordings originally captured between 2002 and 2005. These selections, drawn from the group’s debut EMP Project and sophomore release Wherever We Go, have been carefully remastered to introduce the trio’s music to a new generation of listeners. At the core of EMP Project is a deeply rooted musical connection between three longtime collaborators:
The trio’s origins trace back to their time studying at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (1989–1994), where they developed a shared musical language under the guidance of renowned educators including Jerry Coker, Donald Brown, Rusty Holloway, Keith Brown, Mark Boling and others. After years pursuing individual careers across the country, the musicians reunited—capturing lightning in a bottle during a series of live studio recordings in Atlanta, Georgia. Recorded on August 6–7, 2002, with no rehearsals, the sessions document the trio’s raw chemistry, spontaneity, and collective musical intuition. Each member contributed original compositions, resulting in a truly collaborative artistic statement. Track highlights include: Warrior, Wherever We Go, Elise, Just Visiting, Ba Dump, Birdy, Quickly and Quietly, Night, and Synergy. The original recordings were produced by EMP Project alongside Vic Stafford and Anita Walls, who also handled mixing and mastering. For this release, the material has been newly remastered by Joseph Patrick Moore at Abstract Truth Recording Studio (Henderson, NV), offering enhanced clarity while preserving the organic energy of the original performances.  Just finished performing with Earl Klugh at The Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago. It was a total blast! Thanks to Earl Klugh for inviting me to perform with him and to Eric Clapton and The Crossroads Organization for having the vision of having a master jazz guitarist such as Earl to be apart of this year’s 2010 concert. Not enough words can express how appreciative and honored it was to be apart of such an event. I heard, witnessed and met so many incredible artists, that I’m still trying to absorb the experience. A few of these moments were captured with pictures and I’m attaching a few of them here. Additionally, the concert will be available on DVD in the coming months. It should be noted that the main focus of this event is to aid The Crossroads Centre Antigua. Crossroads Centre is a non-profit, International Centre of Excellence for the treatment of alcohol and other drug addictions. Residential treatment provides a unique opportunity for individuals suffering from alcohol and drug addiction to immerse themselves in an intensive therapeutic and supportive environment. Away from the daily distractions of everyday life, the physical environment is one of peace and tranquility which offers clients a safe place to begin the process of recovery.  JPM produces compilation for Blue Canoe Records. This compilation titled, “Look What The Cats Drug In – Volume 1″ is an audio recording featuring The Modern Jazz Stylings Of Blue Canoe Recording artists. This CD will be released on September 16th, 2008.
Bass Player Magazine October 1993 Bass Notes  On the jazz side of the street, three promising students were recently named winners of $1,000 awards from the Milt J. Hinton Scholarship fund: Joe Martin, Joseph Moore, and Nathan Peck. Martin is a student at William Paterson College; Moore is hittin the books at Memphis State University; and Peck, a 16-year old from West Virginia, is planning to pursue private instruction. The judges were Milt Hinton himself (of course) and noted jazz bassists Jay Leonhart and Charnett Moffett. The winners were chosen on the basis of their performances, their background, and an assessement of the potential benefits of private instruction in furthering their musical development. |
